A little about the role

Reporting to the Assistant Director NSW, the Cultural Practice Lead will lead cultural responsiveness, cultural awareness, and provision of cultural safety for First Nations children and young people accessing KAA NSW services.

The purpose of this role is to promote the wellbeing of vulnerable First Nations children and young people by culturally supporting them and building the capacity of adults responsible for their care.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

* Taking a lead role in driving best practice in the provision of culturally responsive services to First Nations children and young people.
* Taking a lead role in supporting the transfer of First Nations children and young people to ACCO's in line with DCJ's Aboriginal Out-of-Home Care Transition project timeline.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic and operational planning, relating to the designing and developing of services and business opportunities that are culturally responsive and appropriate.
* Assist in ensuring all KAA policies, procedures and other documentation in respect of the placement of children or the provision of support and services, are culturally appropriate.
* Work with Social/Case Worker, Support Workers, and caregivers to develop skills and knowledge in cultural responsiveness, joint work and modelling.

The base salary for this position is $110,102.00 - 114,983.00 /annum (based on 1.0EFTE) + super + vehicle & fuel card + salary packaging options up to $15,900 per annum. This position is full-time permanent,

You can be based at our Wallsend, Botany or Blacktown office, however this role will involve travel between these sites.

About you

The successful candidate will come with:

* A strong understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and ability to advocate for children, young people and carers.
* Prior experience working in child protection or an understanding of Foster Care / Out of Home Care.
* Ability to build alliances and partnerships with Aboriginal Community Organisations and internal and external stakeholders.
* A Social Work qualification, or Psychology, Counselling, Behavioural Science or other relevant area would be highly regarded but is not essential.

This is an Identified position and being an Australian Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander is considered a 'genuine occupational qualification' in accordance with section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
