About the Position
Newington College is seeking to appoint a Newington College Army Cadet Unit Operations Officer (OPSO) on a permanent part-time basis working 25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.
The Newington College Army Cadet Unit was initiated in 1869 and is the longest continuously running unit in the country. The Cadet program at Newington is a youth development program which encourages learning, independence, self-motivation and leadership in a military context. It is also an opportunity to develop endurance, physical fitness and mental strength and character.
The Operations Officer supports the Officer Commanding in the planning, coordination, and execution of all NCACU activities, ensuring the program remains dynamic, high-impact and aligned with the unit's strategic vision. This role oversees field operations, supports staff induction and deployment, manages the annual budget, and contributes to the training program curriculum. The OPSO should be prepared to assume the responsibilities of the Officer Commanding when required, maintaining operational command across the NCACU.

About You
We have deliberately not provided set and narrow selection criteria. However, it would be expected that the successful candidate will:
* need to either be/or be willing to work towards becoming an Officer of Cadets, through the Australian Army Cadet
* have knowledge with regards to the structure of the Army and be aware of the associated courtesies, protocols and military standards
* work effectively as a member of an enthusiastic team
* enjoy working with students at the College and be able to demonstrates the ability to engage confidently and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, building positive working relationships to support effective coordination and outcomes.
* show a genuine appreciation and commitment to pastoral care and youth development.
* Comfortable with the MS 365 suite of applications and have strong written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail in large scale projectsUnderstand and adhere to the College's Child Safeguarding policies and practices.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of Child Safeguarding at Newington.
