Job Advertisement:
Ground Science is currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Technician to complement our current team of skilled soil testers in our Geelong facility. The role is to conduct testing in accordance with the appropriate Australian industry standard methods. Remuneration will be $60,000 - $70,000 + super, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

We are looking for someone who has the following:
- A good understanding of Australian Standards in relation to civil projects;
- A minimum qualification of Bachelor's degree in Engineering;
- Experience (1-2 years) in civil projects in Australia;
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills;
- Experience in the use of laboratory equipment, including Nuclear Moisture Density Gauge;
- Excellent time management and organisational skills;
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team; and
- Proficient ability to grasp a full understanding of project specifications to the applicable Australian Standards.
Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Performing laboratory testing onsite and offsite of construction materials;
- Assist in maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, including Nuclear Moisture Density Gauge;
- Aggregating for various test types across key projects;
- Sample preparation, material classification, Particle Size distribution, California Bearing Ratio, and compaction tests etc.;
- Conducting field tests of soils;
- Classifying materials;
- Ensuring field and laboratory work meets project and client specifications;
- Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment;
- Performing Level 1 supervision works on landfill projects within both Residence and Industrial areas;
- Perform the in office role of Geo-Technician by inspecting and performing field Density tests;
- Collecting and analysing data;
- Assisting in estimating project costs;
- Preparing sketches for civil projects;
- Carrying out computation and analysing collected data; and
- Performing Dynamic Core Penetration tests on site, field density testing using the Nuclear Moisture Density Gauge, and field sampling.
Applicants must possess these qualifications/skills:
- Hold appropriate tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering;
- 2 years experience in the civil construction industry;
- Ability to consistently work in a physical, high-pressure and fast-paced environment; and
- Hold a white card (can be obtained through training).
