The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Product Quality Engineer in our Product & Innovation team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
We manufacture and supply Steel for building, distribution, and manufacturing applications. With a focus on painted product quality and performance, you will be joining a well-established team of specialists and technologists. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you'll utilise your technical knowledge to drive product quality and capability. Focusing on robust product and manufacturing design, you'll leverage what's existing to promote continuous improvement.
In this essential role, you will grow and develop both technically and as a leader, working closely with the shift teams to support the continuous production, reliability, and quality of our painted products. What Will You Do?
With exposure to the entire steel product range, and gaining invaluable process experience, you will:
* support painted product quality through process improvements and ensuring product standards
* provide technical support on the paint lines while striving for business improvements and manufacturing excellence
* assess and analyse data, whilst identifying opportunities to enhance the performance of our painted products
* work collaboratively within our manufacturing plant to ensure painted product quality
* successfully contribute to a safe working environment
More About You
With your technical experience and ability to make calculated decisions while working in a fast-paced environment, you will bring:
* tertiary qualifications in materials or chemical engineering
* experience working in a manufacturing industry – operational, process, or technical environment
* a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
* developed communication and influencing skills to build constructive and effective relationships
* an ability to coordinate technical projects and work seamlessly with other departments to influence outcomes in a timely manner
