We are seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Policy Officer to lead the development of high-quality policy products within a public sector environment. This role provides expert advice on complex policy and legislative matters and plays a key leadership role in driving consistent, evidence-based outcomes that support government priorities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development of policy products, including operating policies, procedures, fact sheets, correspondence, and briefing materials in line with public sector standards.
* Develop tools and resources to promote consistency, quality, and best practice across branch outputs.
* Liaise, consult, and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies and key partners, on complex policy and practice issues.
* Manage projects from inception to completion, including risk identification, stakeholder management, expectation-setting, and delivery within agreed timeframes.
Skills and Experience
* Demonstrated high-level ability to research and critically analyse complex policy issues to develop evidence-based, fit-for-purpose legislative and policy solutions in a public sector context.
* Proven experience managing and coordinating projects to successful completion, including setting priorities, meeting deadlines, engaging stakeholders, negotiating outcomes, and securing executive approvals.
* Strong experience applying legislative concepts and principles when developing policy responses.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality public sector policy documents, procedures, and professional advice.
