State Civil Lead - South Australia at BG&E, Adelaide, SA.

We design and deliver engineering solutions for clients in the Property, Transport, Ports and Marine, Water, Renewables and Defence sectors. Role Purpose
The State Civil Lead is the face of the BG&E Civil discipline in South Australia, providing high quality consulting services on projects, offering specialist advice on the design of civil infrastructure, while ensuring technical quality and compliance, managing risks and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Objectives
- Develop a service offering for BG&E providing high-value Civil Engineering (Roads and Highways and municipal engineering) services in Adelaide, while managing interfaces with external consultants and other stakeholders.
- Lead the growth and development of BG&E in the region across Civil and related sectors.
- Promote and market BG&E.
- Contribute to the commercial success of projects and the team.
- Lead the identification of work opportunities, tendering and winning work, and implement strategies to deliver services profitably.
- Collaborate with the Civil Lead - VIC & SA, State Director and other BG&E stakeholders to grow the SA business and increase profitability.
Duties
- Lead development, design and management of BG&E services across small to large, multidisciplinary projects in the SA market, with some team members potentially based interstate.
- Provide technical leadership in the civil scope on projects and develop practical technical solutions for BG&E's clients.
- Promote BG&E's Civil capability at local industry events and conferences.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and participate in interdisciplinary workshops and risk assessments as required.
- Ensure work complies with legislation, corporate requirements and systems.
- Support delivery of the Strategic Plan and related initiatives.
- Collaborate with external partners, clients and internal stakeholders, and communicate effectively.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities and other project stakeholders as required for project delivery.
- Develop relationships with adjacent disciplines within BG&E (Buildings, Bridges, Construction Engineering, Rail, etc.).
- Project management including fee proposals, resource planning, subconsultant management, budgeting and delivery to programme.
- Ensure external contractor work meets BG&E standards for safety, quality and value.
- Support design teams to meet quality, standards and process requirements.
- Prepare calculations, drawings, reports and other design documents.
- Review project outputs to ensure accuracy and manage professional risk.
- Coach and mentor junior team members; delegate work with clear scope, timeframe and budget.
- Ensure analyses and designs meet technical standards and client/BG&E requirements.
- Collaborate to maintain quality, timelines and coordination of deliverables.
- Apply project management principles to accomplish deliverables on time and to standard.
- Contribute to team growth and participate in recruitment as needed.
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- Tertiary qualification / Engineering degree; membership of Engineers Australia or equivalent recognised for mutual recognition.
- Ideally 8 to 12 years of relevant Civil Engineering experience in an engineering consultancy.
- Advanced technical proficiency in civil engineering, analysis, modelling and interpretation across various project types.
- Experience coordinating, designing and delivering multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
- Competencies consistent with professional civil engineering practice; interstate registration considerations; Chartered Status desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work in a culturally diverse, multi-disciplinary environment.
