Opportunity
A well-established Australian engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Commercial & Project Delivery Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of complex projects across engineering, procurement, manufacturing and site execution. This is a senior leadership role with accountability for project outcomes, commercial performance, governance and team capability, overseeing a portfolio of active projects and a team of Project Managers and Coordinators. You'll play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to contract, while maintaining strong client relationships and protecting project margins.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Delivery Leadership
o Lead end-to-end delivery of engineering and manufacturing projects
o Coordinate engineering, procurement, manufacturing and site delivery functions
o Ensure projects meet scope, schedule, cost, quality and safety requirements
* Commercial & Contract Management (Project-Level)
o Administer project contracts, including variations, EOTs, RFIs and claims
o Monitor budgets, margins and cost-to-complete
o Validate progress claims and milestone billing
o Identify and escalation complex commercial or contractual risks
* PM Team Leadership & Governance
o Lead, coach and develop Project Managers and Coordinators
o Allocate workload and uplift delivery capability across the team
o Maintain consistent governance frameworks, reporting standards and controls
o Ensure accurate use of schedules, registers and dashboards
* Scheduling & Performance Oversight
o Oversee integrated project schedules and recovery planning
o Identify slippage risks and coordinate corrective actions
o Report delivery and schedule performance to senior leadership
* Stakeholder, Risk & Compliance
o Manage client communication related to delivery and escalations
o Maintain project risk registers
o Ensure compliance with WHS, engineering and quality standards
o Oversee FATs, commissioning and final handover
About You
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business or similar
* Formal PM qualification (PMBOK, Prince2, Agile or equivalent)
* 7-10+ years' experience delivering engineering, construction or manufacturing projects
* Proven leadership of Project Managers and cross-functional delivery teams
* Strong experience in project governance, controls, scheduling and reporting
* Hands‐on contract administration experience (variations, EOTs, claims, RFIs)
* Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, cost‐to‐complete and margins
* Experience working directly with clients on delivery and escalation matters
Highly Regarded
* Postgraduate qualification (MBA, Engineering Management or similar)
* Experience in industrial, heavy electrical, manufacturing, utilities or fabrication projects
* Exposure to PMO frameworks and governance improvement initiatives
* Experience supporting tenders, commercial reviews or contract negotiations
