Planning Assessment Officer – State Government Contract
Location: East Perth, WA
Rate: $50-$55 per hour + super
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Duration: 6-month contract (temporary, casual loading included, no leave entitlements)
About the Role
Join a leading State Government team in a key planning role. This 6‐month contract offers the opportunity to contribute to critical assessments and reviews within a State Government agency. The Planning Assessment Officer is responsible for providing specialist technical advice and guidance on a range of transport planning issues, assessing and reviewing planning referrals for development and subdivision applications, structure plans, planning schemes, amendment proposals, and responding to general planning inquiries. The role involves processing applications and referrals while liaising with local governments and industry bodies.
Responsibilities
* Interpret and apply planning legislation, policies, procedures and standards specific to transport planning.
* Provide specialist technical advice and guidance on transport planning issues.
* Assess and review planning referrals for development and subdivision applications.
* Review structure plans, planning schemes, amendment proposals and respond to general planning enquiries.
* Process applications and referrals while liaising with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Support the community with planning inquiries and issues on formal forums.

Desirable Qualifications
* Diploma (or progress toward) in Engineering, Planning, or a related discipline.
* Previous experience working in the public sector.
Pre‐Employment Requirements
* Full working rights in Australia.
* Current National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain one if successful).
