About the Opportunity
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer provides engineering competence and support to disciplines within and departments outside of the SCY Infrastructure Team. The position requires that technical decisions made are safe, practical and suitable for implementation into SCY Capability. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will develop the functional requirements for industrial infrastructure and/or manufacturing equipment required for building the SSN AUKUS at the new, fit for purpose Nuclear Powered Submarine Construction Yard (SCY) at Osborne, South Australia.
Responsibilities
* Engage with internal stakeholders to elicit operational requirements, including teams from Operations, Facilities Management, ICT, Security, Supply Chain, SSN Commissioning, and Nuclear specialists.
* Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as equipment SMEs, suppliers, ANI and their contractors, the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA), submarine designer BAE UK, and other specialist consultants and contractors.
* Develop and deliver technical specifications, including design documentation, drawings, written requirements, and technical data for relevant disciplines (e.g., fabrication, forming/pressing, pipe manufacturing, machining, system commissioning, and nuclear).
* Ensure compliance with cost, schedule, and capability constraints to deliver functional requirements and technical specifications that align with manufacturing requirements and Program objectives.
* Manage documentation and configuration of technical specifications, including conducting design reviews and assurance processes.
* Report assurance progress and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders at regular intervals to ensure compliance.
* Provide robust technical specifications and assurance over the SCY infrastructure scope, ensuring alignment with stakeholder requirements and industry standards.
About you
* Educational qualifications satisfying membership of Engineers Australia (or other equivalent Professional society) at MIEAust level.
* Training in Project Management Fundamentals (or equivalent).
* Experience in technical specifications, compliance, and workshop operations within the industrial manufacturing industry.
* Proven ability to manage design, procurement, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning projects.
* Knowledge of systems engineering principles and requirements management.
* Experience in managing large projects, including integration, scope, schedule, cost, and risk management.
* Experience in the Defence Shipbuilding Industry will be highly regarded.
Clearances
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
