Modelfarm Studio PTY LTD are seeking a talented and experienced FX Lead to join our dynamic team. As the FX Lead, you will oversee the creation of high-quality visual effects for film, television, and commercial projects. You will lead a team of FX artists, ensuring the delivery of complex simulations such as fire, water, explosions, and destruction, while collaborating closely with other departments to achieve creative and technical excellence.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Leadership & Management**:
- Supervise and mentor a team of FX artists, providing feedback and support.
- Ensure projects meet creative expectations and deadlines.
- Assist in recruitment and training of new FX talent.
**Creative & Technical Execution**:
- Develop and implement FX solutions for various effects including fluid simulations, particle systems, and rigid body dynamics.
- Work closely with the VFX Supervisor and CG Supervisor to interpret and execute creative briefs. - Collaborate with other departments (lighting, compositing, animation) to ensure seamless integration of FX elements.
**Pipeline & Workflow**:
- Maintain and improve FX workflows and pipelines.
- Troubleshoot and solve technical issues related to FX production.
- Stay updated with the latest FX software and industry trends.
- **Qualifications & Experience**
- Minimum of 6 years experience in FX for film, TV, or high-end commercials.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a VFX studio.
- Proficient in FX software including Houdini (primary), with knowledge of Maya, 3ds Max, or similar software.
- Familiarity with rendering engines (e.g., Karma, Redshift, Arnold) and compositing software (Nuke preferred).
- Strong understanding of physics-based simulations and procedural FX techniques. - Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
**Preferred Skills**
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, VEX) for tool development.
- Knowledge of cloud rendering pipelines and emerging VFX technologies.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure.
