Gippsland Southern Health Service (GSHS) is a major provider of healthcare in the South Gippsland Shire. With two main acute facilities based at Leongatha and Korumburra, GSHS offers a broad range of specialist, general, acute, subacute, ambulatory, residential aged care and community services.
On 1 January 2026 five health services (Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service) will come together to create Bayside Health. A newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.
About the Role
This Pre-Admission Services Booking Clerk is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day clerical duties within the Surgical Pre-Admission Department. This role involves working closely with the surgical preadmission nurse, theatre NUM, theatre clerk, and anaesthetists to ensure a smooth and seamless preadmission process for patients undergoing surgery at Gippsland Southern Health Service. This position plays a vital role in supporting the coordination and delivery of high-quality surgical care.
As a Pre-Admission Services Booking Clerk at GSHS you will be responsible for:
* Providing efficient and accurate data entry into the Gippsland Southern Health Service's patient administration system
* Ensuring timely and precise theatre preadmission bookings.
* Providing a warm and inviting welcome to all visitors to the Theatre and provide general (non-nursing) assistance to meet their needs.
* Work closely with nurses, theatre staff, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care and timely completion of pre-surgery requirements.
* Maintaining confidentiality at all times, whilst respecting the values, culture, wishes and vulnerability of clients by complying with GSHS Privacy Policies in relation to the obtaining, accessing, security, use and disclosure of private and health information.
