Occupational Therapist – Home Care & Community Services

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct holistic OT assessments addressing physical, psychological, functional, social, and environmental needs.
• Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to enhance independence in personal, domestic, and community activities of daily living.
• Provide recommendations for home modifications, equipment, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies.
• Support clients through education, tailored therapy plans, and ongoing follow-up.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to maximise clients' skills and promote safe, independent living.
• Liaise with families and carers to provide guidance on effective support strategies.
• Maintain accurate documentation, client statistics, and reporting in line with organisational and professional standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, service development, and quality initiatives.
• Participate in supervision of students and support staff where required.
• Promote safety and wellbeing by adhering to OH&S policies and best practice.
Requirements
Essential:
• Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Registration with relevant professional bodies.
• Demonstrated ability to assess, implement, and evaluate therapeutic interventions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality care for older people and individuals living with disability.
• Current Driver Licence.
The ideal candidate would be based in Tasmania.
Desirable:
• Experience in community-based OT, home care, or aged care settings.
• Knowledge of assistive technology, functional assessments, and home modifications.
• Experience in client education, carer liaison, or health promotion.
• Ability to contribute to service planning and development.
