ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Coordinator Wooree Miya, this position will work within Wooree Miya Refuge to assist with providing intensive support and holistic case management for women and their children living in the refuge.
As a Support Worker you will work alongside refuge Case Workers to intensively engage and support women and their children. You will work within a team-based case management model, to provide a range of support, advocacy and referral services to the women and children.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- An understanding of the issues experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in the context of Family and Domestic Violence (FDV).
- An understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures, values, and protocols.
- A commitment to understanding intergenerational trauma and promoting healing approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and community.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to deliver a quality service.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrable commitment to empowering and respecting children and young people.
- Demonstrated ability to provide safe environments for children and young people and protect them from abuse and neglect
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- WA Working with Children Card
- National Police Clearance (dated within the last 3 months)
- Department of Communities Screening (we'll help successful candidates apply)
- WA Drivers License
