Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation (YMAC ) is the Native Title Representative Body (NTRB ), delivering native title and other services across the Pilbara, Mid West, Murchison and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia. YMAC is run by a First Nations board of directors, representing several native title groups, each of whom have their own language, culture, traditions and protocols.
YMAC services include native title claim and future act representation; heritage services; executive office, community, and economic development assistance; land administration, and natural resource management support.

About the Role
YMAC is currently seeking a full time (75 hours per fortnight) Senior Lawyer to join the team in our Perth office. The primary aim of this role is to have effective and efficient day to day conduct of assigned native title and associated legal matters.
About You
You will have the ability to work as part of a cohesive and integrated legal team and be committed to achieving real outcomes for First Nations people. Successful applicants will be motivated team players with excellent negotiationskills and the ability to communicate with our clients and at all levels of the organisation. The work will be challenging and can include commercial negotiations, advocacy, mediation, and claim preparation.

Relevant Experience
* Tertiary Qualifications in law
* Five (5) plus years post admission experience in provision of legal services
* Experience in general and/or native title litigation and resources law
* Proven experience in mediation or capacity to be an effective mediator
* Experience working in regional or rural Australia with Indigenous people
* Sound knowledge and ability to work in a manner consistent with good corporate governance
