Lead Underwriter and Portfolio Strategist for Travel Insurance Business
This role focuses on driving technical excellence, market competitiveness, profitability, and business growth through effective underwriting practices. The ideal candidate will oversee underwriting activities for new and renewing deals across Australia, New Zealand, and global clients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversight of underwriting for new and renewing deals across Australia, New Zealand, and global clients.
* Leadership of underwriting activities for large commercial accounts, including banking sector clients.
* Collaboration with Pricing teams to monitor portfolio performance and adjust pricing as needed.
* Partnership with Sales teams to develop competitive offers for clients.
* Support of remediation activities for underperforming accounts, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
* Ensure underwriting practices comply with internal guidelines and regulatory standards.
* Input into planning processes, including commercial margin projections.
* Support of product rollout initiatives and drive adoption of digital tools within underwriting processes.
* Coordination with actuarial teams to ensure accurate portfolio evaluation and reserve adequacy.
* Cross-functional team collaboration to align capacity planning with business priorities.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Actuarial or financial background required.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in portfolio monitoring, underwriting, or related insurance fields.
* Experience in underwriting travel insurance product for banking sector preferred (B2B2C).
* Proven ability to manage multinational teams virtually.
* Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
