What is the focus of the role?
As the Technology Group Owner Site Reliability Tooling at Telstra, your role is to enhance customer and employee experiences from a stability and availability perspective through inspiring and educating developers about Site Reliability and Observability practices, and increasing adoption and maturity across technology assets. You will also lead the construction and management of CI/CD pipelines, drive automation and monitoring improvements, and facilitate the adoption of enterprise-grade tools across technical teams. With experience in large-scale technical changes and stakeholder collaboration, you will lead a diverse team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and talent management while driving transformation away from complex legacy systems.
Key Responsibilities
As a Technology Group Owner, you draw on your deep software engineering expertise combined with your business and leadership experience to deliver against these common group owner and relevant specific group responsibilities:
Group Owner
* Establish a clear Group purpose, mission and objectives aligned with the overall Telstra strategy through acting as a thought leader on market trends, innovations and disruptions.
* Set and drive priorities and roadmap for the technical Capability portfolio for the group. Ensure coordination and alignment between other Groups through the QBR process.
* Take ownership for mitigation and removal of business and operational impediments for the Group.
* Ensure our technology and processes are designed, built and maintained to have the capability to anticipate, prevent, detect, withstand, respond and recover from any and all events securely, reliably and expediently.
* Take accountability for technology decisions for technical Capability Portfolio
* Drive leadership in establishing commercial impacts and outcomes for technical Capability portfolio.
* Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to maintain customer focus, drive change, identify gaps, and synthesize feedback.
* Manage strategic partner/vendor interlocks and roadmap alignment.
* Make day to day scope and benefits decisions for in-flight Capabilities, where multiple Components or Capabilities are impacted.
* Collaborate with Chapter Area and Chapter leads to agree resource management and allocation to ensure optimal staffing within given budget.
* Connect with chapter leads to stay aligned on the Group’s performance, development, and employee lifecycle activities.
* Actively lead and support the Group to uplift mission member capabilities and deliver against the strategic outcomes.
* Act as technical engagement lead across discovery, design and delivery for cross-functional Group Owners for your function for the designated portfolio.
* Act as the logical point of engagement for multiple Group Owners
About You
We're looking for someone who has…
* Demonstrated expertise in implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines.
* Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain robust observability and monitoring solutions, enabling proactive issue detection and rapid incident response.
* Extensive experience in virtualization technologies and cloud platforms, with a strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and best practices.
* A proven in-depth experience in DevSecOps
* A proactive approach to staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, coupled with the ability to adapt and apply new knowledge effectively.
* Proven capability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including developers, business teams, and management, to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
* A track record of guiding technical teams toward successful project completion, with a focus on mentoring and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
* Demonstrated proficiency in project and product delivery, ensuring on-time and high-quality results through effective planning, execution, and risk management.
