Overview
The Alfred Cancer Program delivers a comprehensive cancer service across diagnostic, surgical, radiation, oncology and palliative therapies for breast cancer patients. The McGrath Cancer Care Nurse will work in partnership across these services and with other health organisations to contribute to continuity and quality of care for patients with advanced breast cancer.
The Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse with breast care nursing experience to work with the McGrath Foundation and The Alfred Hospital. The nurse will be an expert point of contact for advanced breast cancer patients and their families, providing both psychosocial and clinical support. The role includes evidence-based support and care coordination across the entire care continuum, with a coordinated, patient-focused approach to advanced breast cancer nursing care.
Qualifications And Experience Required
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
- Recent extensive cancer care or breast nursing experience
- Post graduate qualification in cancer nursing, oncology or palliative care; breast care qualification or working towards are highly regarded
- Highly competent clinician with ability to show initiative and work autonomously
- Experience in the development and delivery of education programs to patients, carers, community and health professionals
- Patient teaching experience
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with the multidisciplinary management of patients
- Sound analytical and critical thinking skills
- Able to drive a person-centred, adaptable and evidence-based practice culture
