Principal Product Manager - NSW Government
Pay Rate: Up to $1,200 per day + Super (depending on experience)
Location: Parramatta & Sydney (on occasion) + WFH
Anticipated Duration: 12 months with potential to extend
Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
About the Role:
As Principal Product Manager, you will lead the end-to-end product lifecycle for critical applications built on a modern CRM/BPM platform.
Overseeing two to three Agile development squads, you will define the product vision, guide design and delivery, and drive the release of an end-to-end customer solution.
This role requires strong product leadership, deep technical delivery experience and a passion for building scalable, user-focused digital products within complex environments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Product Leadership
Define and execute the product vision and roadmap for a suite of applications on a new digital platform.
Analyse business processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
Ensure customer insights, research and success measures inform product design and prioritisation.
Recommend practical, innovative solutions aligned to available technology and program objectives.
Product Design & Delivery
Develop solution designs that meet accessibility, data, privacy, security and governance standards.
Lead epic and user story creation, ensuring clarity of acceptance criteria and product expectations.
Collaborate with engineering and QA leads on testing, defect triage and overall delivery quality.
Drive continuous improvement across product development practices.
Team Leadership
Lead multidisciplinary Agile teams, including product managers, BAs, engineers and testers.
Coach team members, foster a high-performing culture and ensure delivery continuity.
Support recruitment and onboarding of team members as required.
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the voice of the customer, advocating for user needs and product value.
Communicate complex product decisions clearly, negotiate priorities and manage expectations across diverse stakeholder groups.
Go-Live, Transition & Change
Oversee go-live readiness including data, process, and operational requirements.
Plan soft launches, iterate based on feedback and prioritise enhancements.
Partner with business and change teams to ensure training, readiness and customer communication for new product releases.
Track product performance to support benefit realisation.
About You – Key Requirements
Proven experience leading product delivery in complex technical environments, ideally involving system replacement and process transformation.
Demonstrated experience integrating AI into product development and workflow automation.
Strong CRM/BPM product experience.
Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence and Microsoft tools.
Ability to manage multiple deliverables concurrently and oversee PMs or technical team members.
Highly outcome-focused with strong speed, flexibility and quality of delivery.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Experience within NSW Government or ability to quickly adapt to government frameworks and standards.
