Your Role at St John of God Geelong Hospital
You will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of the hospital in the absence of the DDON, including maintaining a high standard of practice in accordance with the Nurses and Midwifery Board of Australia Scope of Practice, maintenance of adequate and appropriate staffing levels and the co-ordination of resources in emergency as well as after-hours situations.
The Position- The Hospital Coordinator is responsible on a shift basis for the management of the human and material resources of the hospital to ensure the hospital functions efficiently and effectively with an appropriate style of leadership that supports the vision, mission and values.- The Hospital Coordinator is responsible for the Nursing Service and in addition is the referral point for the following services in the absence of the Department Head or deputy: Patient Services, Epidemiology, Pharmacy, Pastoral Care, Enviromental service, Catering, Medico legal and more.- Ensures the availability of after-hours services and caregivers for nursing and other departments. This is done in consultation within charge personnel.- Responsible for reviewing/planning (each shift) prospective HPPD data to ensure that the most effective and efficient use of resources is carried out.- Cost effectively manages human resources, particularly penalties, over time and rostering practices in accordance with award agreements and entitlements- Facilitates admission of patients from SJOG Emergency Department, accredited Medical Practitioner and A&E Barwon Health and other hospitals.- Advance booking of patients both surgical and medical- Co-ordinates clinical emergencies.- Attends inter-hospital emergencies as per Safety Manual.
You will have registration as Registered nurse with current Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and will have minimum of five years post-graduate experience at a clinical level appropriate to the responsibility of the appointment.

Additionally, demonstrated knowledge of WHPPD (Workplace Health, Safety, and Productivity Development) and strategies to achieve these goals ensures a safe and productive environment. Skills in defining work tasks, allocating them equitably among team members, and providing the necessary support are vital for enhancing team efficiency and morale.
