An opportunity to be part of the Department of Neurology at Royal North Shore Hospital is nowavailable. We are looking for a Neurologist with extensive experience in managing patients with Multiple Sclerosis including treatment with Autologous Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (AHSCT).

Purpose of the Position
The staff specialist Neurologist will provide acute and on-going clinical management and consultative service to patients with conditions applicable to the specialty of Multiple Sclerosis for Royal North Shore Hospital. In particular, experience in Autologous Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (AHSCT) is required for this role.
The position will also provide education, supervision and support to junior medical staff; engage in ongoing quality assurance activities both at a departmental and network level as directed by the Head of Department of Neurology and the Director of Medical Services.
The staff specialist will provide a minimum of one session per week of a Multiple Sclerosis outpatient clinic at RNSH. The staff specialist will participate in the neurology on call roster at RNSH. The staff specialist will have academic and teaching responsibilities in conjunction with the Northern Clinical Medical School.
You will provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of clinical practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within NSLHD.
This position is temporary with the possibility of temporary extension based on performance, funding and need
Selection Criteria
* MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia.
* Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
* Sound clinical knowledge in Neurology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
* Demonstrated clinical, diagnostic and technical skills commensurate with functioning as an independent Neurology Consultant including extensive experience in managing patients with Multiple Sclerosis including treatment with Autologous Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (AHSCT)
* The proven ability to establish a service in the public health care sector and understanding the challenges public hospital outpatient services face.
* High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
* Demonstrated participation in and commitment to undergraduate, postgraduate, interdisciplinary teaching and education, including research, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management and experience with involvement in Multiple Sclerosis related research.
* Preparedness to participate in any on-call service, including on-call rosters already existing or established.
