About The Opportunity
The South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) Staying Safe in Community Directorate (PARVAN) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Aboriginal Health Worker (AHW) to support the provision of culturally responsive care to Aboriginal clients accessing violence, abuse and neglect (VAN) programs. This position will sit across two VAN services; the Child Protection Counselling Service (CPCS) and the Sexual Assault Service (SAS). Both services work across the Dharawal, Gundungurra and Darug Nations covering Bankstown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Camden and surrounding Macarthur suburbs, as well as the Wollondilly and Wingecarribee areas. The position is permanent full-time and will primarily be based in Liverpool and Hoxton Park Community Health Centre, with some travel required across the District within work hours (0830 – 1700).
The position works collaboratively with clinicians to ensure the cultural, therapeutic and psychosocial needs of Aboriginal clients are supported through a holistic approach to service provision. The position will also play a key role in supporting the establishment of relationships with Aboriginal communities and organisations to improve access to violence, abuse, and neglect programs for Aboriginal people. This will include developing and implementing a range of community based education, health promotion and prevention projects. This position will support early response of support and engagement to Aboriginal clients who access the Referral Management and Early Response (RMER) Service for referral into appropriate referral pathways.

* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
