About the role
We are seeking a Spray Painter with relevant industry experience to join our Broome base. You will undertake spray painting of the aircraft as directed by the Head of Maintenance (HOM), Senior Base Engineer (SBE) and Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (LAME's).
Key Duties and responsibilities of the role include
* Possess a high level of hand‑on technical skill and ability to understand and interpret the technical manuals within the surface preparation and finishing scope.
* Carry out surface preparation including paint stripping, sanding, masking, paint preparation and equipment clean‑up.
* In consultation with the Head of Maintenance plan and execute jobs to completion.
* Always ensure adequate stock level and necessary equipment is on hand.
* Maintain current knowledge of technology changes with paint systems and equipment.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Safety Management System and Civil Aviation Regulations.
To be successful in this role
* Certificate III in Automotive Replenishing Technology or equivalent is essential.
* Certificate III in Aircraft Surface Finishing or equivalent is preferable.
* Possess a minimum of three years' experience as a qualified automotive refinisher (spray painter).
* The willingness to learn, apply what is learned and demonstrate a can‑do attitude.
* Possess a demonstrated mechanical aptitude that includes a general understanding of the workings of mechanical systems.
* Strong time‑management skills and ability to take direction and work cooperatively as part of a professional and close‑knit team.
* Have a high degree of attention to detail.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Working Safely at Height Certificate.
* The physical ability to undertake duties including lifting heavy items and standing for long periods in hot and humid conditions.
* Hold a current "C" class motor vehicle driver's licence.
* Ability to obtain and maintain ASIC.
