About us:
Located just 300km west of Queensland's stunning coastline, Emerald Hospital is at the heart of a vibrant and growing regional community. Serving a population of around 28,000 people, this 32-bed facility is a dynamic rural hub where your work truly makes an impact.
With two operating theatres and a dedicated team of around 160 staff, Emerald Hospital delivers a diverse range of services including Emergency, Acute Care, Perioperative Services, Maternity, Infusion Services, Hospital in the Home, Child Health, Mental Health, Palliative Care, Community and Primary Care.
You'll also be part of a broader, connected health network, supporting surrounding communities through multi-purpose health services in Blackwater, Springsure and Woorabinda, as well as Primary Care centres in Gemfields and Capella.
About the role:
Engage with community members to strengthen community involvement in health service delivery.
Provide practice and cultural support to other health professionals to build cultural competence and responsiveness.
Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and support of Trainee and developing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander HPs to develop as competent practitioners.
In partnership with other health professionals provide health education and promotion programs in a community.

About you:
Mandatory qualification/s:
Hold current registration as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner as recognised by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner Board of Australia (ATSIHPBA) and,
Successfully completed a Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health or equivalent.
Any successful applicant who does not hold the Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or Practice qualification will be appointed for a fixed term, subject to engaging and participating in a learning agreement to obtain the required qualifications(s) with essential level support under HR Policy G10 Study and Research Assistance Scheme (SARAS)
Genuine occupational requirement:
To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $136,543 p.a. is comprised of:
An hourly rate between $51.19 - $60.35 p.h.
12.75% employer superannuation contribution
17.5% leave loading
