About the role:
* Deliver metal fabrication and welding services for Council assets, including water infrastructure, playgrounds, buildings and flood control structures.
* Apply technical skills to manufacture, repair and install components using complex design drawings, while maintaining accurate work records.
* Ensure compliance with relevant welding standards (AS1554 and AS4839) across a range of Council assets and equipment.
* Collaborate with workshop, stores and operational staff, and contribute to a safe, efficient and environmentally responsible work environment.
* Provide practical training to apprentices and be available for after-hours emergency breakdown response across the shire.

We are seeking:
* trade qualification in Engineering Metal Fabrication or Boilermaker Welder Certificate III, or similar accredited qualification
* experience working in a fitting, machining, metal fabrication and repair workshop
* knowledge of the Fitting and Welding Standards associated with maintenance of drainage, heavy and light fleet, parks, sewer, water assets, building and roadside furnishings
* the ability to work in an effective and efficient, safe and environmentally friendly way at all Council worksites

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
