Primary objective

Provide policy and procedural advice to senior management, the Minister, other government agencies and the public regarding the

management and maintenance of Crown land in the Big Rivers Region. Manage projects, Crown leases and contracts related to the

release and maintenance of Crown land, including matters relating to native title.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide advice to the Minister, Executive management, government agencies, stakeholders, and the public on Crown land

management, maintenance, land transactions, and related issues.

2. Carry out the planning, delivery, and monitoring of maintenance contracts and programs for Crown land, ensuring cleanliness,

usability and regulatory compliance, within budgetary, political and environmental constraints.

3. Prepare, let, and administer contracts and tenders for Crown land maintenance; allocate works and monitor contractor

performance to achieve quality outcomes.

4. Address unauthorised use of Crown land, implement remedial actions, and respond to complex enquiries and complaints.

5. Manage projects, contracts and leases related to the release and development of Crown land, including leading project control

group meetings, resolution of complex issues and delivery of outcomes.

6. Deliver complex Crown land transaction projects in accordance with policies, procedures and relevant legislation.

Selection criteria
Essential

1. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills with demonstrated experience in negotiating outcomes on

sensitive, confidential and complex issues.

2. Demonstrated ability to research, analyse complex issues and provide well-reasoned advice and recommendations.

3. Demonstrated experience in contract management, tendering, and procurement processes relevant to land management or

relevant related experience, including applying public sector frameworks.

4. Demonstrated understanding of and ability to interpret legislation and policy, particularly relating to responsibilities as a

landowner managing Crown land and in the release and management of land development, or the ability to quickly acquire.

5. Ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

6. Demonstrated competence in the use of systems including word processing, database, record management and software

packages.

7. Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, maintaining a strong client

and service focus.

8. NT Drivers licence or an ability to obtain.

Desirable

1. Experience working within a land administration or development environment, including knowledge of related legislative and

policy frameworks.

Further information

The nature and extent of the work may require travel and overnight stay in regional areas to ensure the key duties and

responsibilities of the role are achieved.
