About the Company Davidson Technology are working with a large Federal Government Agency to secure a Senior Network Engineer based in Darwin, who will implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.
About the Role As the Senior Network Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organisation's secure and resilient network infrastructure across the Northern Territory, ensuring high-performance communication pathways that support mission-critical IT and operational systems.
With expertise in configuring routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and related network technologies, you will align all network architecture and security controls with organisational guidance and best practices.
The role includes troubleshooting complex connectivity issues, implementing security remediation and uplift activities, proactively monitoring network performance, and developing comprehensive architectural and as-built documentation.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure that all work supports organisational safety, environmental, and quality standards while contributing to a robust, scalable, and cyber-secure network foundation.
About You To be successful in this role, you'll be a baseline-cleared professional with extensive experience implementing and managing complex WAN/LAN environments—including MPLS, VPLS, SD-WAN, VRFs, VLANs, and VPNs—and administering core network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, ARP, DNS, and DHCP.
You'll be highly skilled in deploying and maintaining advanced security solutions, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation strategies, with strong capability in monitoring, reporting, and maintaining secure network operations.
Proficient with Cisco technologies across firewalls (FTD), routers, switches, ISE, and DNAC, you'll apply industry-recognised certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, or CCNA to ensure robust, standards-aligned network design and operation.
With exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a high level of technical writing proficiency, you will also bring valuable experience in security architecture reviews, operational technology environments (SCADA, DCS, PLC), and conducting comprehensive network security risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and enhance organisational security posture.
The Benefits You will be offered a 12-month contract based in Darwin and requires you to hold a current baseline security clearance .
You'll be paid an excellent daily rate for the duration of the contract with the possibility of further extensions.
