Halls Head College (HHC) is seeking a dynamic and innovative Head of Learning Area (HOLA) - Design and Technology to join their friendly and hardworking leadership team. The successful applicant should display a commitment to leading teaching and learning through a positive, student-centred approach across the whole school.
The successful applicant will provide a leadership role across the College promoting high quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment. The HOLA will be responsible for planning, actioning, and reviewing Technology related subjects, as well as developing strategies and learning programs that promote student engagement that result in improved learning outcomes. The HOLA will ideally promote an environment of active positive learning and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable all students to achieve their potential.
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring effective processes are in place to support the effective management and wellbeing of staff and students. As a leader, you will ideally have the ability to utilise your skills to encourage and support innovation in classroom practice; to analyse and use student performance data to inform and guide teaching and learning; and use technology to stimulate learning and communication. You will lead staff to engage effectively in performance management and classroom observation, with a strong focus on developing consistent practices across the Technology Learning Area.
With outstanding interpersonal skills, the successful applicant will lead colleagues and work collaboratively with the College community to achieve the best educational outcomes for all students. The HOLA has an integral role in modelling exemplary practice and building the capacity of their team to ensure high standards for all students.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
1. Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
2. High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
3. Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs);
4. Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
