Senior Town Planner Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Town Planner to join our Planning and Environmental Health Division. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality development outcomes across the shire.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality development assessment and compliance services, providing expert advice and support to ensure sustainable and livable communities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing Technical Guidance
o Offering technical guidance on planning policies and procedures;
* Development Application Review
o Reviewing and assessing development applications for compliance with relevant legislation and regulations;
* Report Preparation and Presentation
o Preparing and presenting reports to the Council on development proposals and outcomes;
* Stakeholder Collaboration
o Collaborating with stakeholders to achieve positive planning outcomes and build relationships with external agencies and industry partners;
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or a related field;
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as Urban Planning, Geography or Environment Science.
* Demonstrated extensive professional experience in development assessment;
A minimum of 5 years of experience in development assessment within local government, private sector or consulting environment.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Local Government Act;
Familiarity with the Local Government Act (NSW) including Part 4A, Part 6 and associated Ministerial Directions
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act;
Familiarity with the EP&A Act 1979, including Part 4, Part 5 and Part 5C
* Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a team;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Demonstrated excellent communications skills;
Proven ability to communicate complex information to various audiences through clear concise writing and verbal communication.
