About the role
An established aviation operator is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Officer – Airside Safety Coordinator to join its operational team across major NSW aviation precincts.
This role is particularly well suited to turf professionals — including greenkeepers and sports turf specialists — who bring a high-standard maintenance and presentation mindset to their work. The organisation is already seeing the benefit of applying professional turf principles to airfield environments, where consistency, finish, clean edges and disciplined mowing patterns directly support safety, visibility and operational confidence.
A one-percenter approach is valued: attention to detail, pride in presentation, and a disciplined, methodical way of working. This is a role for someone who enjoys working to defined standards and taking ownership of how the environment presents every day.
This is a hands-on, operational role (not supervisory), combining grounds maintenance with airside safety responsibilities in a structured, safety-critical setting.
Key responsibilities
* Deliver daily grounds maintenance across airside and landside areas
* Maintain runways, taxiways, aprons, pavements, fencing and associated infrastructure
* Operate and maintain plant and equipment (mowers, tractors, bobcats, trucks, power tools)
* Complete inspections, checklists and reports in line with aviation and safety standards
* Undertake ARO and WSO duties in a relief or ad-hoc capacity
* Identify hazards, escalate issues promptly, and operate within Aviation SMS and WHS frameworks
About you
You are a turf professional who brings:
* Strong pride in presentation, finish and consistency
* Experience in turf, grounds, facilities or similar operational environments
* Comfort working to procedures, checklists and defined standards
* A calm, safety-focused and reliable approach to day-to-day execution
Airport or aviation experience is advantageous but not essential.
