The Office of the Registrar General (ORG) is responsible for overseeing the integrity, security, availability, and performance of the NSW land title system. We maintain the policy and legislative framework for well-defined property rights in NSW. We are at the intersection of law, technology, and regulation. We are regulating title operations, digitalising the system, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the State cadastre while putting the customer at the centre of our decision making. Your responsibilities will include This role will involve working in a friendly and fast-paced regulator, to support our oversight of commercial operators and legal policy. The role will provide independent, professional legal services that contribute to efficient and effective oversight of the eConveyancing regulatory framework and the NSW Land and Property Information concession. Providing clear, concise legal advice and legal representation across a range of legislation administered by ORG including legislative interpretation and review Assisting with regulation of NSW’s land titles operator through the LPI Concession Deed, and of Electronic Lodgment Network Operators through the electronic conveyancing regulatory framework Drafting legal and policy documents including contracts, service agreements, briefing notes and correspondence, to ensure the provision of efficient and effective legal services for ORG Assisting with governance structures to support ORG’s oversight, including preparing agendas and minutes of meeting Research and draft advice to facilitate appropriate outcomes for ORG Assist key stakeholders on a range of matters and requests for advice to facilitate exchange of information, completion of tasks and meeting critical deadlines Contribute to the maintenance and updating of registers and precedent systems to ensure the integrity of data, and consistency of legal services Assist in developing and providing guidance or training material to the business to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements About you To be successful in this role you will be admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW and hold a current practising certificate. The right candidate will embrace teamwork, be willing to develop skills in new areas of regulating and overseeing commercial operators, able to adapt to a fluid and at times contentious regulatory context and enjoy developing innovative solutions to difficult legal, regulatory and policy issues. We are looking for someone who can prioritise work in a high-volume work area to meet competing demands with conflicting and critical deadlines to maintain a high-quality output.
