The Team
Northside Inpatient Unit is part of Statewide Mental Health Services (SMHS) within the Department of Health and provides acute inpatient care for adults experiencing significant mental health challenges across Northern Tasmania. The multidisciplinary team includes nursing, medical, and allied health professionals working together to deliver recovery‐oriented, evidence‐based care in line with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan and relevant legislation. Allied Health supports psychosocial assessment, functional recovery, and discharge planning, ensuring care extends beyond symptom stabilisation to meaningful reintegration into the community. The service works closely with Launceston General Hospital, Community Mental Health Services, and external providers to support continuity of care.
The Role
As an Allied Health Professional, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary inpatient team delivering high‐quality, recovery‐focused mental health care.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing evidence‐based assessment, treatment, and case management for consumers experiencing acute mental health presentations.
* Contributing to multidisciplinary care planning, including risk assessment, formulation, and discharge coordination.
* Participating in team processes such as clinical review, intake, and crisis response functions as required.
You will work under appropriate professional supervision, with caseload complexity and autonomy increasing in line with your experience and development. For Psychologists, professional supervision will be provided by the Psychology Lead – Adult Mental Health Services North.

Discipline Focus – Psychology
This recruitment is specifically targeted to Psychologists; only applicants with Psychology Board of Australia registration (or eligibility for registration) will be considered.
You Will Need
* Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Demonstrated experience, or emerging capability, in delivering psychological assessment and intervention within a mental health setting.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including strong communication, collaboration, and professional accountability.

Details of Appointment
Permanent, part‐time, day worker position, working 50.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary
$73,834 to $111,364 pro rata per annum, plus a 12% superannuation contribution.
* Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wage Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Eligibility
* Successful completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification and registration with the relevant National Board.

Desirable Criteria
* Specific experience either working in or researching mental health related fields or areas, including university placements.
