**The YMCA Vocational School **is a multi-campus educational community based in Logan, North Lakes, Redlands, Ipswich and Acacia Ridge. The School is a Special Assistance School offering alternative schooling programs to assist disengaged students in having the opportunity to reach their full potential through positive educational studies, activities and outcomes.
We are now recruiting a **Youth Worker (Classroom)** on a **permanent, full time** basis to join our **Logan Senior Campus** located in **Kingston, QLD.**
**ABOUT THE ROLE**
The role of a **Youth Worker (Classroom)** is to support teachers in delivering of academic and wellbeing programs to students.
Key responsibilities (not limited to):
- Coordinate the delivery of the School's pastoral care and community development program so that student wellbeing needs and attendance targets are met;
- Plan and lead wellbeing programs to students;
- Support the delivery of vocational training programs offered to students;
- Assist in delivering associated programs, services and events offered to young people through the operation of the campus;
- Form intentional relationships with young people so that their strengths, passions, interests and unmet needs can be supported appropriately through the operation of the School;
- Support and case management of identified students in line with school policies and practice.
**SELECTION CRITERIA**
The ideal applicant will be looking for a challenge, have a passion for working with young people, a strong interest in the development of the holistic person, a personal interest in health, spirituality and personal well-being. They will also have a commitment to a client-centred approach, creative and innovative youth work practice and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
To be successful in the role, you will be able to meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Certificate III or above in Youth Work. Community Services or other relevant qualification;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with young people including the ability to communicate appropriately with young people and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds;
- Ability and commitment to working with young people using the Strengths Approach and ability to demonstrate non-judgmental, empathic framework;
- Be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
- Computer literacy and prior experience using a range of office software including Word, Excel;
- Hold a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
