Our passionate solicitors, law clerks, paralegals, and administration professionals have delivered justice for clients who have suffered catastrophic back injuries, brain injuries, cosmetic injuries, birth injuries, delayed diagnosis of illness, and children with cerebral palsy.Opportunity As the Head of Medical Law, you will play a pivotal role in leading a dedicated team of state-based practice leaders, who support our clients pursuing claims of medical negligence. In this newly-created role reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you'll lead and coach the practice leader team to deliver exceptional client service, drive strong case outcomes, and foster a high-performing and supportive environment. You'll also leverage our extensive relationships across Australia's medical law department to grow the practice and strengthen our national offering.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development and delivery of the strategic and financial performance of Medical Law, aligning to our divisional strategy, Shine's commercial goals, client value proposition, and the One Shine Way.Set and maintain standards for case assessment, liability advice, and settlement recommendations in line with Shine's case management processes.Build and lead a high-performing legal team with a strong learning culture, clear career pathways, and sustainable workloads.Champion a client-first culture grounded in ethical practices and transparent legal processes.Drive client acquisition and stakeholder trust to support the growth of medical law, including overseeing public communications with Marketing in high-profile cases.Deliver strong financial outcomes through disciplined case management, cost control and recoverability, and successful case execution.Communicate openly, turning strategy into clear goals, and lead teams to deliver quality legal outcomes through effective operations.Uphold legal and ethical standards, act with integrity, and report risks transparently.Represent a small case load of clients in medical negligence litigation matters.RequirementsAn admitted legal practitioner with an unrestricted practising certificate.Proven success in leading and growing high-performing legal teams.Significant experience as a medical negligence solicitor.A commitment to connect with those around you and work together to deliver exceptional results for our clients.Passion, motivation, and enthusiasm to contribute to our culture and ensure it's a place where everyone can thrive.An innate ability to question, challenge the status‐quo, and always stay ahead of the pack.We are committed to making Shine Lawyers a place for you by encouraging and supporting our people to bring their authentic selves to the workplace, and as a result, we know you'll put your best self forward while righting wrong for our clients.
