PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As the SAP Test Lead, you will be responsible for developing and executing the overall testing strategy for the SAP S/4HANA upgrade program.
This role oversees planning, coordination, and execution of testing activities to ensure that the solution meets both business requirements and technical standards, within the scope of the project (noting that the upgrade is technical in nature, not transformative).
You will work closely with development, business, and support teams to identify, document and resolve defects, ensuring a high-quality end product before deployment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Develop and implement comprehensive test plans, including test case design, test scheduling and resource allocation for all phases of testing (functional, non-functional testing, integration, regression, performance and user acceptance).
* Lead and mentor a team of test analysts and coordinators, ensuring adherence to testing best practices and continuous improvement in testing methodologies.
* Oversee the execution of test cases, monitor test progress, track defects using appropriate tools and ensure timely resolution of issues.
* Work collaboratively with development teams, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand system changes and validate that requirements are met.
* Ensure that test environments and data sets accurately simulate production conditions to enable effective testing.
* Provide regular updates on testing progress, quality metrics, and defect trends to the Program Director and key stakeholders.
* Continuously review and enhance testing processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
* Develop comprehensive test plans, test strategies and test cases aligned with the project's scope and objectives.
* Oversee the end-to-end testing process, including system testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT) and regression testing.
* Coordinating testing efforts across multiple modules and stakeholder groups.
* Managing complex integrations and ensuring that defect resolution processes are effective.
* Adapting testing strategies in response to evolving project requirements and technical challenges.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* Extensive experience in technical and test leadership within SAP upgrade, transformation or large-scale ERP projects, preferably SAP S/4HANA.
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in SAP testing, including at least 3 years in a lead role.
* In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, including functional, non-functional, integration, regression, performance and user acceptance testing.
* Experience in leading testing efforts across different phases of the project lifecycle
* Experience with automated testing tools and defect tracking systems.
* Proven ability to lead a testing team in a fast-paced, complex project environment.
* Familiarity with agile methodologies and continuous integration/continuous testing practices.
* Experience in government or large organisational settings is an asset.
* Degree qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* Professional certification in testing (e.g., ISTQB) is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
