Join us as a Planning Officer. The Planning Officer position is a permanent full‐time role within the Development Services unit. You will act as the first point of contact for customers with enquiries related to land use and development, guiding them from the initial enquiry through to application lodgement and determination despatch. Your responsibilities will include providing accurate information, preliminary assessment of development proposals, and ensuring the governance and administration of applications meet the required standards. This role serves as an excellent stepping stone for individuals aspiring to develop their careers in local government planning.
Responsibilities
* Opportunity to support development assessment teams in a dynamic local government environment.
* Engage with the community and development industry to enhance understanding of planning standards.
* Contribute to the governance and administration of applications in an end‐to‐end e‐planning system.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications or nearing completion in Town Planning, Urban & Regional Planning, or a related field.
* Understanding of development assessment processes and the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979.
* Experience in setting personal work objectives and monitoring performance.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare and present quality reports.
In addition to the essential qualifications, experience in project management and collaboration across various disciplines will be highly regarded.
Benefits and Compensation
* Package: $82,602 – $87,556 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation (salary determined based on skills and experience).
* Hours of work: Permanent Full Time, 35 hours per week with option of a 19‐day month flex time arrangement available.
