Primary objective

Provide postgraduate medical education services to medical staff of Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals and Top End Region.

Context statement

The Medical Education Unit provide an accredited training program for prevocational medical officers under the Medical Board of

Australia's Prevocational Education and Training Program. The successful applicant will facilitate the establishment, implementation and

evaluation of a robust education program facilitating competence and compliance with all essential and organisational training

requirements. They will also maintain primary oversight of the international medial graduate (IMG) prevocational workforce and provide

leadership on IMG workforce planning.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Under the guidance of, and in collaboration with, the Deputy Director Medical Services (DDMS) and the Directors of Medical Training

(DCTs), implement, facilitate and critically evaluate education, orientation, teaching and wellbeing programs for doctors in training

within RDPH and TER.

1. Support and facilitate medical officer progression towards General Registration and completion of the PGY2 Certificate.
2. Develop policy and procedures for educational and organisational initiatives to support medical officer training.
3. Work with the DDMS and DCTs to maintain oversight of the IMG workforce including workforce planning and training progression,

as well as ensuring educational, assessment and support structures are appropriate.

1. Develop, implement and coordinate an AMC workplace-based assessment programme.
2. Work collaboratively with the DDMS, DCTs, and NT Prevocational and Medical Assurance Services (PMAS), to ensure ongoing

compliance with accreditation standards, requirements and regulatory processes

1. As a member of the medical education team, develop an advisory and collaborative relationship with PMAS and other education

providers and contribute to Territory and National initiatives.

8. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work that is undertaken to

ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

9. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Relevant Tertiary qualification in education and/or health related discipline.

2. Experience in the development, delivery, implementation and facilitation of training programs to a post-graduate client base.

3. Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to achieve successful outcomes across a range

of stakeholders.

4. Extensive experience in health education accreditation standards, audits, surveys and implementing recommendations.

5. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.

6. Experience in data collection, analysis and production of formal written evaluation reports.

Desirable

1. Knowledge and understanding of the Australian Medical Council's Prevocational Medical Education and Training Program.

2. Knowledge and understanding of AHPRA's pathways to registration for IMGs.
