Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Estimator to join a leading contractor specialising in essential infrastructure and utilities projects across Australia.
In this pivotal role, you will lead the preparation of accurate cost estimates and schedules that form the foundation for project design and delivery. Working closely with Bid, Operations, and Business Development teams, you\'ll ensure all submissions are commercially sound, competitive, and aligned with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end bid and tender processes, ensuring compliance and on-time delivery.
- Prepare detailed cost and resource schedules using industry estimating software (InEight, Candy, Expert Estimator or similar).
- Build and manage cost databases and benchmark rates to inform future bids.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure tenders balance customer needs with business objectives.
- Mentor and support junior estimators within the team.
- Conduct risk assessments and contribute to business case development.
What We\'re Looking For
- 5-10 years\' experience in construction estimating, with strong exposure to civil or infrastructure projects.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar.
- Proven expertise in developing baseline estimates, tender submissions, and risk assessment.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
- Leadership skills with a track record of coaching and developing estimators.
