Role
The Secondary Teacher Assistant (STA) will perform a number of duties in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice and school policy. The STA will be based in one of the College's four Houses and will be linked to a Leading Teacher who will supervise and monitor their work.
The Secondary Teacher Assistant is required to:
* provide friendly and helpful assistance to students, parents and staff
* prioritise and manage work demands
* communicate effectively with a range of people
* work as part of the house team to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner
* provide specialised knowledge that is relied upon to deliver services to the work area
Responsibilities
* Checking homegroup rolls daily to ensure they are maintained correctly.
* Contacting parents to ascertain whether a student absence is approved.
* Preparing reports for Homegroup teachers and House coordinators to facilitate the follow-up of student absences.
* Issuing late passes and early leaver passes.
* Issuing uniform passes when a coordinator is not present.
* Answering and attending to phone and general enquiries to the House
* Directing students to appropriate assistance especially in the absence of coordinators
* Word-processing, filing, photocopying of House documents and resources.
* Ordering supplies and requisites
* Assisting in the organising of House events e.g. graduations, parent info evenings
* Creating student appointments with the school psychologist
* Year 10 and 11 exam support
* Producing certificates for student award ceremonies
* Supporting the VHAP coordinator
* Performing other duties appropriate to the classification to assist in the effective delivery of services
