Poten also offers globally integrated ship and commodity brokerage services for crude oil, refined products, naphtha, condensates, LPG and LNG. Clients include national and independent oil companies, traders, banks, governments and shipowners.


Title: Analyst or Consultant


The Role

Poten is seeking to add the following skillsets as well as build our consulting capacity across these two roles:

* Fluency in Mandarin to a business level in an energy industry context
* Ability to apply an LNG technical / project background in a commercial environment
* Application of data analytics skills to shipping and LNG transaction datasets

The successful candidate will be part of the world-wide Energy Consulting Team and report to the APAC LNG Consulting Manager. The APAC consulting team operates as a highly collaborative unit, offering the opportunity to work side-by-side with Poten's seasoned industry experts who have decades of experience, and in direct communication with our clients. A typical assignment would be to support a client in live negotiation of LNG or shipping agreements, or through due diligence of an active M&A or finance opportunity.


Job Responsibilities

The roles are responsible for participating in and leading assignments with a focus on LNG and energy transition markets, transactions and commercial agreements, and shall:

* Manage client assignments.
* Be seen as an expert within Poten and sought out for advice by other consultants.
* Be able to produce reports with a compelling story line that meet client\'s needs and are strongly supported with data and analysis.
* Manage clients and projects in ways that lead to favourable client feedback.
* Produce work products aligned with other team members\' contribution, and models/data that are accessible, readily understood and used.
* Effectively lead most group work sessions to frame problems and develop effective solutions, particularly at beginning of projects.
* Ensure projects are consistently delivered on time and on budget.
* Achieve a detailed knowledge and understanding of the LNG and energy transition business and develop a deeper knowledge of specific parts of the value chain, acting as an in-house expert in their respective specialty.
* Identify new areas for extension of Poten\'s consulting business and take a lead role in establishing our capabilities and presence there.
* Develop and maintain a broad network of industry contacts through participation in industry gatherings, events, conferences or by other means.


Job Requirements

* A degree or advanced qualification in a relevant numerate field such as engineering, economics, business, energy policy etc.
* Demonstrated interest in the energy industry, with direct experience an advantage.
* Fluency in business Mandarin and work experience in China will be a material advantage. Fluency in other SE Asian languages will also be viewed favourably.
* Travel to China or other Asian countries for periods of up to 3 weeks may be required.
* Good communications and interpersonal skills.
* Good organizational and time management skills.
* For Singapore applicants must have a right to work through e.g. Singaporean nationality or permanent residence.
* For the Perth, Western Australia position, both temporary and permanent residents with a right to work will be considered. Support to extend a temporary work visa can be offered to employees demonstrating sustained high performance in the role.
