Uniting WA is expanding our Out of Home Care services and we're looking for skilled, committed, and compassionate people to join our team. We provide high‐quality, therapeutic, person‐centred support for children and young people who cannot live at home due to trauma.
Overview
As a Residential Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, stable, and healing environment for children and young people. You'll support their daily routines, provide therapeutic, trauma‐informed care, and contribute to positive outcomes as they rebuild their lives.
We have opportunities across several programs and regions:
* Bennett Springs – 7 days on / 7 days off
* Carlisle – 7 days on / 7 days off
* Kelmscott – 7 days on / 7 days off
* Warnbro – 7 days on / 7 days off
* Cloverdale – 8–9 hour rotating day/night shifts
* Spearwood – 8–9 hour rotating day/night shifts
* Group Foster Care – Live‐in roster: 7 days on / 7 days off, providing stability and daily support in a therapeutic home environment.
* Complex Care Homes – 1:1 intensive support for children with high and complex needs. Staff work 8–9 hour rotating day/night shifts, including sleepovers.
* Temporary Care Homes – Short‐term, nurturing care for children waiting for long‐term placement. Rosters similar to Group Foster Care.
Applicants must be available for sleepover shifts.
About You
You'll thrive in this role if you are:

* A strong communicator who can work independently or as part of a supportive team
* Skilled in building trust, maintaining boundaries, and promoting the child's voice
What You Bring & Essential Requirements
* Certificate IV (or higher) in Youth Work, Community Services, or related
* Experience working with young people in a residential or similar setting
* Understanding of Therapeutic Parenting & Trauma‐Informed Care
* Commitment to ongoing learning and reflective practice
* Empathy, patience, and professional integrity
* Availability for sleepover shifts
* National Police Clearance
* First Aid Certificate
* Working with Children Check
* Ability to meet the Department of Communities RCCA requirements
