An opportunity is available for an experienced HR professional to step into a short-term Senior HR Business Partner role within a small, purpose-driven Australian Government agency. This 6‑week contract will see you providing immediate support across a range of HR functions, working closely with leaders and staff to deliver high‑quality advice, manage key processes, and ensure continuity across HR operations.
Responsibilities
* Managing recruitment, selection and onboarding activities
* Providing high‑level HR advice aligned with APS frameworks and best practice
* Supporting performance management, employee relations and case management
* Assisting with HR strategy, policy updates and organisational change initiatives
* Partnering with business areas to respond to workforce needs and HR queries
* Supporting work health and safety responsibilities
Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of APS or similar HR frameworks
* Demonstrated experience providing advice on industrial relations and HR policy matters
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive issues tactfully
* Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
* The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes
* A proactive and adaptable approach
* A relevant qualification in HR or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) is desirable
