This is a challenging opportunity for a senior microbiology professional to lead and oversee departmental testing and operations.

The Chief Microbiology Scientist will manage the development, validation, implementation of protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

* Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize laboratory performance and support clinical needs.
* Manage department budgets and financial reports.
* Oversee staff numbers and ensure business requirements are met.
* Prepare and submit recommendations for capital expenditure.

Maintain current scientific knowledge through appropriate resources, including journals, scientific meetings, and market developments in equipment and technology.
">
Ensure all work practices and procedures are in place and followed by all department employees to ensure compliance with NATA/TGA/NPACC and company systems.
">
Proactively drive quality and workflow improvement initiatives.
">
Collaborate with P&C to manage the recruitment and selection of all department employees.
">
Ensure new employees receive induction and support ongoing development of employees' skills and knowledge.
">
Manage employee work performance and address poor performance in a timely manner.
">
Meet SLA's and client requirements.
">
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following essential requirements:
">
Education: Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent (AIMS Recognised)
">
Experience: 6 years' experience as a senior scientist in related field with exposure across pathology
">
Qualifications: Minimum 2 years in a senior supervisory role with management of rosters, KPIs, turnaround times and performance management
">
Skill: Proven leadership skills, self-initiative, problem-solving capabilities, continuous improvement, and innovation in laboratory practices
">
Quality: Ability to foster a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork and knowledge sharing, exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
">
This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases.
