As the business evolves, the finance team is seeking an experienced professional to provide essential support across accounts payable and general accounting functions.
The Role
This contract role offers a mix of hands-on accounts payable duties and broader accounting support. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of finance operations while contributing to month-end, reporting, and analysis activities.
Contract Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Term: 3 months, with potential for extension
- Days/Hours: 3–4 days per week (Tuesday to Friday). Standard office hours are 7:00 am – 4:30 pm, with flexibility available.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Process invoices, payments, and purchase orders
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare month-end accruals and accounts payable reports
- Manage routine clerical and administrative finance tasks
Finance & Accounting Support
- Monitor daily cash balances and process fund transfers
- Maintain the general ledger and post journal entries
- Prepare account reconciliations and review trial balances
- Assist with departmental cost reporting and financial analysis
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and investment summaries
About You
We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running, either as:
- A qualified accountant with end-to-end finance experience in a small to medium business, or
- An experienced accounts payable specialist with exposure to general accounting.
You'll bring:
- Strong numerical skills and a high level of accuracy
- Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and purchasing systems
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Confidence working independently and managing competing priorities
- Experience with Maximo (highly desirable)
Qualifications & Experience
- VCE or equivalent (minimum)
- Further education in business or accounting preferred
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce/accounting highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience in accounts payable and/or broader finance functions
