Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) delivering holistic primary healthcare across East Arnhem Land. The Role
The key focus of this Board-level position is to provide strategic direction to ensure clinical governance systems are future-focused and reform-ready; strengthen Board oversight of clinical risk, safety, and quality outcomes; offer forward-thinking guidance on care model redesign, integrated care pathways, and workforce capability; and position the Board to lead confidently through relevant reforms. This is a governance, non-operational position.
You
Registered Health Practitioner (e.g. Registered Nurse, Allied Health Professional, Psychologist or Medical Practitioner) with current AHPRA registration (where applicable)
Postgraduate qualification in Health Management, Governance, Risk, or Public Health
Completion of AICD Company Directors Course or similar (or willingness to undertake)
Significant years in senior clinical, executive, or Board-level roles
Demonstrated ability to influence complex organisations and high-stakes decision-making
Experience designing or embedding enterprise-wide clinical governance systems
Involvement in sector-wide reform, co-design initiatives, or Royal Commission responses
Oversight of clinical risk portfolios, performance systems, consumer feedback channels
This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact, support Aboriginal community control, and work in a Board role within an organisation where culture, strategy, and service intersect. It will involve approximately four Board meetings a year for which you will receive an attractive remuneration including salary packaging options as part of a not-for-profit organisation. You will also Chair several Clinical Governance Sub-Committee meetings.
