As Associate Director, Energy Advisory, you'll report to the Managing Director and lead Volta's high performing energy advisory team in solving the energy sector's most complex techno-commercial challenges, while building deep client relationships that position you as their trusted strategic partner.

You'll work alongside our Engineering, Project Delivery and Asset Services teams, ensuring your expertise advice is grounded in delivery reality and operational performance.
What you'll do
Client Leadership: Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders.
Act as trusted advisor on strategic decisions, major transactions, and complex techno-commercial challenges.
Engagement Oversight: Provide expert guidance and leadership on advisory engagements, proposals, and tender responses.
Ensure technical quality, manage key risks, and intervene where client or project issues require senior resolution.
Business Performance: Drive revenue growth and profitability across your portfolio.
Set commercial strategy, manage pricing and risk, and ensure project delivery meets financial targets and client expectations.
Project Commercialisation: Drive commercial strategy and structuring for utility-scale renewable energy projects from concept through to financial close.
Negotiate PPA agreements with offtakers, structure financing arrangements, manage grid connection commercials and connection works agreements, and ensure project economics stack up in real-world market conditions, turning development opportunities into performing assets.
Market Positioning: Establish Volta as best-in-practice through thought leadership, industry engagement, and demonstration of technical excellence grounded in pragmatic, implementable outcomes.
Organisational Development: Build capability and systems that support Volta's growth.
Drive process improvement, establish quality frameworks, and develop techno-commercial competencies across the team.
Strategic Growth: Identify and drive new service lines and market opportunities for Volta.
Lead and support entry into emerging sectors and develop partnerships that expand our commercial reach and technical capabilities.
Team Leadership: Build Volta's energy advisory team into a best-in-practice function through empowering leadership and performance excellence.
Develop team capability through mentoring, setting clear standards, and creating an environment where staff deliver exceptional client service focused on pragmatic, real-world outcomes rather than theoretical solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or related discipline (Master's or MBA preferred)
8 to 10 years' experience in energy sector commercial advisory, project development, or investment analysis
Proven leadership experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and client relationships
Demonstrated understanding of energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and commercial structures
Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience engaging senior executives and leaders
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with ability to distil complex analysis into clear strategic recommendations
Datacentre and utility experience would be highly regarded
Tier 1 Consulting experience would be highly regarded
