Title: Payroll Manager
Employment: Full Time / Ongoing
Location: Surrey Hills, VIC or Hobart, TAS
This is an opportunity to bring your technically strong payroll expertise into a purpose-driven organisation.
In this role, you will oversee payroll operations across our national workforce of 1,200+ employees, helping to ensure our workforce is paid accurately, compliantly and on time, so our people can continue delivering essential community services. You will play a key role in strengthening payroll governance, driving continuous improvement initiatives and supporting complex compliance and system projects, while partnering across the organisation to improve payroll outcomes and employee experience.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accurate, compliant and timely payroll processing across a complex workforce environment covered by multiple enterprise agreements (6) and SCHADS Award conditions.
- Oversee payroll compliance, governance, audits, remediation activities and legislative or enterprise agreement changes
- Drive payroll projects, system improvements and process optimisation initiatives to improve efficiency, controls and service delivery
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to the payroll team (2) while partnering with HR, Finance, ICT and key stakeholders to resolve complex payroll matters and improve outcomes.
What We Are Looking For
- High level experience in end-to-end payroll within a medium to large or complex environment
- Experience supervising or mentoring payroll officers or a small payroll team
- Strong knowledge of relevant awards (SCHADS desirable), enterprise agreements, legislation and payroll compliance requirements
- High proficiency in payroll systems and HRIS platforms (TechOne, Carelink desirable), with strong data literacy and Excel capability
- Experience conducting payroll reconciliations, audits, remediation, quality checks and variance analysis
- Strong judgement and problem-solving skills in resolving complex payroll issues
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and lead a team through peak periods
