The role
As a large open cut mining operation in the NSW Hunter Valley, HVO offers an opportunity to make a difference in a fast‐paced, exciting environment. The Dispatch/Control Room Operator reports to the Fleet Management and OT Superintendent and plays a key role in fleet management, meeting targets, and managing competing priorities.
About the Role
- Maximise utilization of the load and haulage fleets using the Dispatch system.
- Monitor accurate statistical information and record it in the system.
- Liaise with shift supervisors, engineers, and OT technicians to minimise production and maintenance delays.
- Provide a communication link between production, maintenance, planning, prep plant, and operations employees.
- Input to hot seat, blast, and crib delay management.
- Escalate any behaviours or activities that fall outside the dispatcher's control.
- Support drill crew, mine services, blast team, training, CHPP and/or Production Supervisor.
- Maintain system software and hardware, liaising with Modular Mining as necessary.
- Develop solutions to identified problems and take accountability for resolving issues.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and statutory obligations.
- Accept responsibility and be accountable for actions.
- Analyze relevant costs to achieve optimal outcomes and manage budget utilisation rates.
- Identify significant variances from budgeted costs and report them to appropriate persons.
- Provide ongoing information to supervisors to optimise pit operations and production reporting.
- Communicate the status and location of all equipment to all employees.
Qualifications and Experience
- Comprehensive understanding of fleet management, optimisation, and reporting.
- Previous experience with real‐time fleet management systems at large‐scale mining operators.
- Committed to continuous improvement with a genuine desire to influence mining operations and technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level computer literacy with the ability to multi‐task.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
- Exceptional teamwork skills with the ability to work autonomously.
Roster and Location
Rotating day/night roster based on site at HVO.
