About the business Derwent Mercantile is a Hobart-based field services provider to banks, finance companies, law firms and insurers. Our services include repossession of assets, process serving and investigations.

* Interview individuals regarding their financial circumstances
* Negotiate payment of debts
* Repossess assets
The role enjoys flexibility with a mix of office environment, working from home and in the field. You will be responsible for preparing detailed written reports for clients following each attendance.
Previous experience is not essential but those that have an interest in enforcement, legal-support or banking/financial services are encouraged to apply. You will receive comprehensive on-the-job training directly from the Director, gaining exposure to all aspects of the business and the opportunity to broaden your skill set. You will also work toward completing a Certificate III in Financial Services (Mercantile Agents). As a small business, flexibility within the role is occasionally required.
Ideally, you will enjoy communicating with people, helping them maintain their relationship with our clients and supporting them to meet their obligations. The start date is negotiable and full training is provided.
Required skills
* Meet the requirements to obtain a Commercial Agent Employee Licence
* Be able to work independently and as part of a team, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines
* Be proficient with technology (Microsoft Office/365 and Apple mobile devices)
* Be available to work flexible hours, including outside standard business hours on a regular basis
* Enjoy customer interaction and demonstrate confidence in communication
* Possess strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and conflict-management skills
* Be a proactive self-starter capable of managing their own workload
* Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy in meeting compliance requirements
* Think logically, ask relevant questions and work toward achieving positive outcomes
* Display honesty and integrity
* Hold a current driver's licence
* Be able to provide a suitable environment for a home office
Salary and equipment
The salary is by negotiation with the successful applicant. Technology and equipment are provided to you (vehiclle, iPhone, iPad, Surface Pro).
