Cheema Family Farms is involved in harvesting and selling produce. A section of their land is certified under National Standard for Biodynamic and Organic Produce and is devoted to cultivation of organic garlic and pumpkin. Conventional production of annual crops like cabbage, lettuce, wombok and grey pumpkin is practiced on the other section.

About the role

Cheema Family Farms is searching for enthusiastic Agriculture Consultant and advisor to work within the large-scale farm, located in Hay, NSW. As Agriculture Consultant, you will provide Advises to farmers, agricultural businesses, rural industries and government on agricultural systems, crop production, processing and distribution of farm products, while complying with WHS legislation requirements.

You will be working with the farms at 342 Russell St, Hay, New South Wales 2711.

Skills and Experiences:

Educational level an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Bachelor degree or higher in a field highly relevant to the Agricultural Science and at least one year of relevant experience.

Key Duties

The ideal candidate will possess the following competencies:

- collecting and analysing data and samples of produce, feed, soil and other factors affecting production

- advising Farmers and Farm Managers on techniques for improving the production of crops and alternative agricultural options

- advising farmers on issues such as crop disease, control of pests and weeds, soil improvement and feeding programs

- studying the environmental factors affecting commercial crop production, pasture growth, and the growth and health of crops

- studying the effects of cultivation techniques, soils, insects and plant diseases on crop production

- developing procedures and techniques for solving agricultural problems and improving the efficiency of production

- studying the propagation and culture of crop, methods for improving the growth of stock, and the effects of thinning on crop yield

- preparing plans for efficient harvesting systems

- investigating, planning and implementing management procedures to cope with the effects of fires, floods, droughts, soil erosion, insect pests and diseases

· Proven teamwork abilities

· Strong attention to detail

· Always safety conscious

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working on a farm and possess the ability to work individually or in a group to achieve set tasks. You will also bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn to experience the diversity of working on a farm.
