Job Description
Our valued client, NEWCO FARMS is seeking a dedicated and experienced Farm Manager to join their dynamic team. They are looking for individuals who are not only knowledgeable in diverse farm operations but also embody integrity, trustworthiness, and a proactive, can-do attitude. Duties for this role are not limited to the following:
Report directly to the General Manager on livestock and farming related matters Liaise with the Egg Grading and Packaging Operations Manager as well as related staff on matters related to egg supply, egg quality, and supply logistics
Work to written and verbal instructions as provided by General Manager and/or Technical and Veterinarian Services Manager Participate in company directed staff meetings and further education courses
Undertake standard bird husbandry practices which ensures the health and welfare of birds. This involves monitoring feed, water intake, body weights, interpreting laboratory results, conducting clinical examinations and autopsies from time to time Co-ordinates, monitor and report on livestock activities, production processes and the associated management/ staff to meet specified targets and standards
Liaise in coordination with the Livestock Manager and/or Veterinary Manager with the pullet suppliers on all matters relating to the rearing, husbandry, preparation and logistics of the management of particular rearing flocks Supervise and organise staff including the training of staff in basic layer farm management procedures, standard best practise and safe working procedure Assist in recruiting of appropriate staff.
Liaise with employment and Training Managers on matters relating to recruitment, training activities and industrial issues Undertake or reorganise any work procedure as directed by the Technical and Veterinary Services Manager or as deemed necessary in the absence of a member of staff Control and co-ordinate all Laying Farm activities for the achievement of short- and long-term business objectives that result in improved financial outcomes
Assist and direct to ensure appropriately trained staffs are available for special tasks including egg collection, bird culling, hygiene programs and vaccinations Responsible for the joint co-ordination of rearer transfers and co-ordination of flock depopulations including provision of appropriate staff to ensure minimum losses, stress and the timely delivery Detail and authorise as required employees’ pay and contractor payments
Ensure that all vaccines, treatments, and medicines are available and administered as required in the appropriate manner Ensure all farm administration is performed to Newco Farms’ guidelines, including completion of all relevant reports and documentation. Such paperwork to be completed within the required timeframes
Undertake basic repairs and maintenance of sheds and facilities to ensure appropriate and optimal operation. Premises and surrounding amenities to be well maintained Ensure strict compliance with the principles of quarantine and biosecurity by all Newco Farms’ farming operations
In conjunction with Technical Services staff, assist in the co-ordination of farm cleanouts and washdown Assist in the development and maintenance of Safe Work Practises.
Support and implement the Company’s Accident Prevention Program – support employees/ work groups to ensure area is incident/ accident free Report workplace hazards identified during the course of work to appropriate person according to standard operating procedures Ensure Laying farm activities comply with relevant Acts, legal demands and standards.
Ensure adherence to the relevant quality standards, confer with the appropriate Newco Farms personnel on applications of methods, production standards and safety programs Refrain from association with other avian (bird) species or work in any other commercial poultry operation while employed with Newco Farms unless approval has been given Essential Skills:
Previous experience in Farm management Ability to lead and manage a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proactive time management and organisational skills High level of computer literacy and numeracy skills Attention to detail and a commitment to quality

Salary: $100,000 per annum
